Painting

Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Art I

This class will focus on techniques of painting with a variety of transparent and opaque mediums such as ink, watercolors, tempera, acrylic, and oil paints and pastels. Students will develop painting skills while incorporating different styles used throughout art history.

Three-Dimensional Art

Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Art I

Art Fee: $10

 

This class will focus on the art of 3-D building. Everything from found objects to soap carving to clay as well as plaster will be explored. This class is hands on and will required you to bring in outside objects to use in your art.

Art Survey I

 

This course covers a broad range of art experiences with a variety of media including: drawing, painting, lettering, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics while emphasizing the art elements and principles. Technique in these mediums is stressed. Art history is a part of this class as well. Problem-solving, personal creativity, critical thinking, as well as perceptual abilities are emphasized. Sketchbooks are a requirement for this class.

Art Survey II

 

This course includes many types of art materials and experiences including: drawing, painting, lettering, printmaking, mixed media, and 3-Demensional work while concentrating on the elements and principles of design. Art History is an important part of this class as well. You will be expected to demonstrate proper technique as well as solve higher level thinking problems in a variety of mediums. You will also be expected to demonstrate personal expression and creativity in each of your artworks. A written critique or oral critique may be expected at any time.

Art Survey III

 

Students strive to develop their work while demonstrating personal creativity and expression. More independent work is expected with less instruction time. Some mediums explored will include plaster, oil paint, acrylic paint, as well as pen and ink, pencil, color pencil, and charcoal. Students will work on hand building clay as well as the potter's wheel. Sketchbooks are a requirement of this class.

Art Survey IV

 

This is an independent study class that requires teacher approval for entry. Students will be working independently with their choice of mediums. They will be required to meet with the teacher to discuss and plan their work. They will sign a contract describing what their goal is in each work and then critique their work as part of their grade. An altered book/sketchbook is a requirement of this class.
